Man charged with public order and assault offences

A man has been charged with public order and assault offences after we carried out #problemsolvingpolicing patrols in Stoke-on-Trent.

Darren Steele, 51, of no fixed address, has been charged with being drunk and disorderly in a public place and assault by beating of an emergency worker.

It comes after officers carried out visible, proactive patrols in Burslem on Tuesday (8 July). A man assaulted a police officer but the officer was not injured.

Steele first appeared at the North Staffordshire Justice Centre yesterday (Thursday 10 July). He has been bailed ahead of his next appearance at the same court on 16 March 2026.

The patrols form part of our commitment to put officers on the beat in targeted patrols at hotspot locations across Staffordshire. It makes it easier for local people and businesses to speak to the officers keeping local communities safe every day and helps us respond to crime effectively across the county.
